A military coup in Guinea-Bissau has led to the arrest of the president, closure of all borders, and suspension of the electoral process. Gunfire was reported near the presidential palace, and senior military officers have formed a new ruling command.

Port operations, border entry, and government services are likely suspended.

Vessels should reconsider calling Guinea Bissau, maintain heightened security when transiting the EEZ, and prepare for communications disruptions and extended delays in the country. Crew movements and cargo operations will be very difficult. Continue close monitoring until clarity returns.
